The Importance of the Journey

When going after a goal it’s important to never lose sight of the integrity of the journey. The journey to any result, whether it is the summit of Everest, a promotion in your job, running the marathon – is just as important, if not more so, than the end.  Read more

Relationship challenges

We all have them don't we? Someone somewhere in our lives who presses our buttons - the one marked 'irritation' or 'judgment' or 'criticism'. But the most important thing to remember is that we can't change people! There is only person we can change - and that is ourselves. So if we want to change a particular relationship in our lives, we need to look within, not without. It's hard to take, but it's true!

How To Climb Your Own Everest, an evening workshop

On Friday 10th June, 6.30 - 9.30 p.m I am holding a workshop (in conjunction with Yorkshire Centre for Wellbeing) called "How To Climb Your Own Everest - the steps to achieving success and fulfillment in your life".

Using my Everest climb as an example, illustrated with slides and video of my summit climb, combined with my Life Coaching skills, I will be showing how everyone has within them the ability to climb their own Everest, to overcome challenges and to do things in life that they never dreamed possible.

Make 2011 Your Best Year Yet

Of course we want every year to be our best year yet. But as with everything in life, wanting isn't quite enough. We have to be pro-active. Sitting around and waiting for good things to happen just doesn't work. I learnt that the hard way. I spent years sitting around waiting for something to happen.

The Winds of Change are blowing us into 2011

The winds of change are blowing. Have you noticed?

Are you going with them and facing up to new challenges as they present themselves? For they will. Or have you decided to stay where you are, to let the winds swirl around you and to stay stuck in their vortex. Staying stuck in that place you have been in for a long time, knowing that there is more out there for you, but just not daring to take that all important step called commitment, into that world of dreams and adventure that is out there waiting for you...because doing that is very very scary....

The Key To Success Is Not To Quit when the going gets tough...

That is how I climbed Mount Everest.

This blog is coming to you today from the heart of the French Alps. I am looking out of my window at the most beautiful view of wall to wall mountains, sprinkled with a fresh covering of snow. As are the trees and everything else in sight. It is truly uplifting and inspiring. However getting here required true grit and determination, which reminded me about the importance of not quitting when the going gets tough.

Success is within all of us, we just can't always see it.

So what is success? Success is achieving a goal or a dream, no matter how small or how large.

Success is that amazing feeling that you get from having achieved what you set out to do. It's a feeling that money can't buy and that no one can ever take away from you. It's that "Yes, I've done it!" feeling, that transforms you from someone who is just a dreamer to a person who actually lives their dreams. But we all know that turning a dream into reality isn't easy and we often don't know where to start. So how do we go about doing it?

Are You Just A Dreamer? Or do you want to live your dreams...?

Do you want to have regrets when you grow older that you didn't do the things you have a chance to start doing today? Right now?  Read this quote, by a 89 year old woman and see if it resonates with you:

"If I had my life to live over again, I'd try to make more mistakes next time. I would relax. I'd be sillier than I have been on this trip. I would climb more mountains, swim more rivers and watch more sunsets. I would have more actual troubles and fewer imaginary ones. Oh, I've had my moments, and if I had to do it all over again I'd have more of them. In fact I'd try to have nothing else, just moments, one after another...I would pick more flowers." Nadine Stair

Success is all about Taking Responsibility for your life.

That means not blaming others when things don't go right. It means taking responsibility for everything that appears in your life. For the failures as well as the successes.  It means looking inside yourself and not outside....And if you think about it, that's really empowering. Most people on this beautiful planet that we live on, walk around imagining that life just happens to them...it never occurs to them that they have any control over any of the things that show up in their life. It never occurs to them that they have choice...the power to choose...the power to change...
